Welcome to New Minas Elementary
Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s):
“We are a school community inspired to think, dream, believe, and achieve
through partnerships among children, parents, staff, and community in a
safe, nurturing environment.”
Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s):
A warm welcome is extended from the staff of New Minas Elementary School
to 319
students and their families. A special welcome is extended to our
54 new primary
students as well as their families!
We look forward
to working with the parents and guardians of our students and to
motivate and challenge them so that they may reach their fullest
potential again this
year.
We are pleased to welcome a number of
new and enthusiastic staff members to our school community. Shelley
Morse has joined our staff as Vice-principal/Resource teacher.
Ms.
Morse was formally the VP at Aldershot. Mrs. Pam Stokes will be joining
our staff as a resource teacher, Ashley Ouellette will be teaching grade
4 French
Immersion (Carrie Surrette will be on maternity leave), Gord
Hind will be our gym
teacher, Ms. Frampton will be our music teacher,
Mr. Hannam will be our librarian,
Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Adams will join our educational assistants staff and Mrs. Serieys
will be job sharing with
Mrs Gallagher. We are confident that these new
appointments will be a
fine complement to our existing staff.
At New Minas Elementary
School, we believe in developing a learning
environment that nurtures
academic, physical, social and emotional growth. In
working towards
this conviction we make decisions in the best interest of students
whereby we provide an equitable education that meets the needs of each
student. We
focus on learning and developing life-long learners through
providing a variety of
meaningful learning experiences. Our schools
climate is a safe learning
environment where students and staff alike are cared for, respected and valued. To
create such an environment we
pride ourselves in offering an educational
environment that respects
diversity and where effective, appropriate programs and
services are in
place for all our learners. Lastly we believe in working in a
collaborative, professional environment whereby partnerships are
fostered and
nurtured so that all parties involved feel engaged and
valued. Our educational
priorities and philosophies are in conjunction
with the Annapolis Valley
School Boards goals. At the start of a new Academic year it is a nice time to reflect and
review these beliefs to
ensure a positive year will be both attainable and sustainable.
We
invite you to continue to be an active member of your child’s learning and
encourage you to contact us at any time regarding any concerns or
suggestions that
you may feel can benefit our roles in educating your
child(ren).
